New ‘Compassion Market’ Food Pantry Gives Meals To New Yorkers In Need
Hunger and food insecurity have skyrocketed among New Yorkers during the pandemic, and Trinity Church Wall Street is stepping up to help struggling neighbors keep food on the table.
Starting September 30, the church has launched the Compassion Market, where guests will be able to pick up 15 healthy, shelf-stable meals — designed to last for five days — along with personal-hygiene kits. The market will be located at St. Paul’s Chapel (209 Broadway), and open on Wednesdays from 12p to 3p.
Appointments for pickups can be made on the Plentiful app (help getting set up can be found here) or via the church’s resource phone number (917-594-6300), which will be open Monday to Friday from 2p to 5p. You can also leave a message, and you should receive a call back within 48 hours. Walk-ins will also be accepted, subject to availability.
Trinity Church also offers other food assistance with its Brown Bag Lunch Ministry, as well as resources to help New Yorkers navigate tasks like applying for SNAP benefits or connecting with the Department of Homeless Services.
