Zoom in to Learn How to Make Shrimp Curry and Leg of Lamb in Rum Sauce

The Downtown Alliance is highlighting some of our favorite local spots in the web series, “Dine Around Downtown: Cooking At Home” edition.

Hosted by award-winning chef Rocco DiSpirito, the series features chefs from Lower Manhattan restaurants who cook up signature recipes and share tips for crafting everything from complex gastronomic delights to go-to comfort foods. It’s free to sign up and participate, and any donations go to a good cause — either directly to the restaurant’s employee-relief funds or to a food-security charity of the restaurant’s choice.

Register now to learn how to make shrimp curry (cheema thenga) and leg of lamb in rum sauce (raan e akbari) with executive chef Jiban Sarkar and executive tandoori chef Dhandhu Ram of Benares on October 1. For those who haven’t yet frequented the Tribeca Indian restaurant, you might recall our mini-profile on its owners back in July.

The next installment of “Dine Around Downtown: Cooking At Home” will feature Casa Taqueria on October 15. You can pre-register for it here.

The series launched earlier this summer with America’s first restaurant Delmonico’s, followed by Gnoccheria and Taim. All previous episodes are available on YouTube.
