This Is No Time To Cozy Up: You Still Have To Stay 6 Feet Apart

Last week, we sent a little reminder that,  though the city has started to reopen, the pandemic is nowhere near over, and you are still required to wear a mask “when out in public and in situations where social distancing cannot be maintained.” That is still in effect. Also still in effect is social distancing, which a few too many revelers in the East Village failed to heed over the weekend.

It seems worth repeating that COVID-19 is still out there, despite New York’s falling case count, and you still need to stay six feet from people outside your household. Your friends count as “people outside your household,” provided they do not live in your apartment. The virus does not care how well you know someone or how much you like them or how many times they have held back your hair outside Pianos, and so you need to put some physical distance between them and yourself.

So, once again: if you are sitting in the park with pals, or are at a protest, or are waiting outside your favorite bar and/or restaurant for a takeout drink and/or meal, wear a mask and stay at least six feet from others.
