Essential Comfort Food: Where To Get Pizza In Lower Manhattan Right Now

There is no time in our lives where pizza hasn’t made us feel better. Since our current situation hinders us from frequenting our favorite spots, that shouldn’t stop us from inhaling pies from a handful of beloved pizzerias in the neighborhood. Let’s review some of our options Downtown, shall we?

Gigino Trattoria (323 Greenwich Street) has an extensive pizza menu in addition to their cuisine from the Amalfi Coast. Pizza dough is also available for those who want to make their own pies at home.

When you talk about the artistry of a good pizza, you cannot go wrong with Picasso Pizza (303 South End Avenue). It offers delivery and takeout 11a–9p.

If you head over to Big Al’s (9 Thames Street) for some classic Chicago-style pizza it will make you feel like you’ve left New York in a social distancing way. You can pick up from 9 Thames Street.

Joe’s Pizza (124 Fulton Street) has been serving New York City for 40-plus years and, not unlike any native folk of this city, is far too stubborn to let the pandemic obstruct its daily operation.

Adrienne’s Pizza Bar (54 Stone Street) lets you mix up your Pizz-a-thon with some really good bar pies (try it with roasted garlic). They offer both delivery and takeout.

Grotto Pizzeria (69 New Street) has recently reopened and is offering a 15% off if you order via the 9Fold app. (Use code “WEAREBACK” when ordering.)

Majestic Pizza (8 Cortlandt Street) serves an 18-inch vodka pie with fresh mozzarella, basil and vodka sauce for $21.

Underground Pizza (3 Hanover Square) has a broccoli-rabe-and-sausage in its pie arsenal as well as an old-fashioned, three-cheese thin Sicilian with a special regional sauce.

Add some greens to your pie with Artichoke Basille’s Pizza (70 Pine Street); the artichoke pizza is significantly more delicious than you might initially imagine.

Neapolitan Express (40 Wall Street) offers both takeout and delivery. It also has a dessert pizza on the menu: Fantasia di Nutella, perfect pizza dough slathered with Italian-imported Nutella, powdered sugar and sliced raw almonds.
