Staying Fit While Staying Home: Virtual Online Classes From Lower Manhattan

In this time, cooped up in our apartments, we need to blow off some steam and try to work off all the desserts we’ve been learning to bake in our spare time. While you can’t go to your favorite gym or yoga studio right now, there are quite a few ways these Downtown places are coming to you. For free. The following are just some of the options available.

Wellness Wednesday
Both the Conrad and Brookfield Place have been posting via Instagram (Stories or IGTV) workouts. The Conrad in conjunction with Corc Yoga offers a yoga class, and Brookfield has worked with Lululemon to host different types of workouts such as “COREntine to get your daily dose of INDOORphines.”

During the other days of the week, there are still workout options available to you.

Boxing
Church Street Boxing has its regular trainers hosting classes online via Instagram that are not just for members, but for anyone who wants to participate.

Dance
Battery Dance is live-streaming classes every day for stretching, conditioning and dancing.

Yoga
Yoga Shanti, YogaCare and the Seaport’s Lyons Den Power Yoga are all offering free online yoga classes. Kids’ yoga too! In addition, Bodyworks is offering group wellness classes for pain relief as well as a subscription online video library of self-care videos.

While it’s certainly not the same as being there, it is a great way to break up your day, stay in good health and feel connected to the neighborhood. (And, if you’re offering free classes online, let us know.)
