Craft Cocktails, Interactive Art, Five-Pound Burritos: Day Of The Dead In Lower Manhattan

Experience Día De Los Muertos in Lower Manhattan with delicious eats and iconic art at three ghostly festivities this weekend.

A Four-Course Dinner at Temple Court

For a beautiful, formal Saturday evening, attend a Day of the Dead Dinner Party at Temple Court (aka Beekman Cellars), a one-night only pop-up experience hosted in partnership with Casamigos. Raise a glass to those that came before us with craft cocktails and a Mexican-influenced feast in a spooky, specialty downtown environment. You can email guest relations to purchase tickets. (Sat, November 2 @ 5 Beekman Street, 6p)

Día de los Muertos Weekend Festival at the National Museum of the American Indian

Want to enjoy quality time with friends and loved ones? Stop by this free, interactive festival for music and dance, hands-on activities and a unique art experience. Artist Lilia Ramirez (Nahua) will create an interactive mural featuring La Catrina, the famous skeletal lady that has inspired Día de los Muertos celebrations for generations. Cetiliztli Nauhcampa will perform dances and music from south-central Mexico, and visitors can honor the departed by making paper marigolds for a community ofrenda. (Sat, November 2 @ 1 Bowling Green, 11a-5p)

A Monster Burrito-Eating Contest at Mad Dog & Beans

If you love scarfing burritos, and you love winning money, here’s a prime chance to do both: Mad Dog & Beans hosts their annual Day of the Dead Party starting at 7p on Friday. Sugar-skull painting will be available to those who respect their stomach linings; for the rabid ones, the Mexican cantina has a $100 cash prize for whoever is first to consume their five-pound (!) burrito. Sign up here if you’re loco enough to enter the competition. (Friday, November 1 @ 83 Pearl Street, 7:30p)
