New Sounds Live Features David Bowie

By: Joseph Ferris

For three nights this month, New Sounds Live will transport you to David Bowie’s Berlin.

This annual music series is back on Oct 17-19. Curated by WNYC’s John Schaefer, New Sounds Live brings an all-star line-up of indie rockers to the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place. Starting at 7:30p each night, Bowie’s “Berlin Trilogy” — Lodger, “Heroes, and Low — will come to life.

Each album will be performed in its entirety each night with Lodger on the 17th, Heroes on the 18th, and Low on the 19th.

Past and present members of Deerhoof, Xiu Xiu, Shearwater, Dirty Projectors and more will perform. The fun begins each night with short programs of music composed by Brian Eno and Klaus Schulze that were inspired by the three Bowie albums.

Admission is free. No tickets are required. Visit Brookfield Place’s website for more information about New Sounds Live and the featured musicians.
