Have a Roaring Time at the Jazz Age Lawn Party

By: Caroline De Tino

Show off your best Texas Tommy, Charleston and Foxtrot dance moves later this month at “one of the most spectacular things to do in summer on gorgeous Governors Island” (Time Out New York).

The Jazz Age Lawn Party brings the Roaring 20s back to Governors Island on Saturday and Sunday, August 25th and 26th, from 11a to 5p. No Roaring 20s party worth it’s bathtub gin would be without great live music. Jazz bands will be playing all day long with fan favorite Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra headlining the performances.

Speaking of libations, the Jazz Age Lawn Party will be brimming with ice-cold glasses of lemonade, Rose and Aperol Spritz.

Worried that your dancing shoes are a bit rusty? Sign up for lessons and you’ll be shaking a leg with the best of the flappers by the end of the day.

The party will also feature gourmet food, croquet games and a motorcar exhibit. For the youngest attendees there will be carnival games and an official Children’s Parade for them to show off their dapper attire.

Ferries to Governors Island depart from Lower Manhattan’s Battery Maritime Building. For information and tickets, visit the Jazz Age Lawn Party website.
