Lower Manhattan pub staple Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog knows a thing or two about triumph: they were voted the World’s Best Bar in 2016 and boast an original cocktail menu by their talented mixologist team. On July 1, the bar suffered a hard hit when a fire broke out inside the venue at 6:00 am. Thanks to the smart thinking of their employee, Steve, the Dead Rabbit was spared from total destruction. We’re relieved everyone is safe, and know they’ll bounce back to their regular routine soon.

The Dead Rabbit’s anticipated reopening date is Thursday, July 19, but you can support the amazing team now by visiting their sibling property, the BlackTail NYC cocktail lounge located in Pier A Harbor House. Like its Irish pub twin, BlackTail NYC boasts the same award-winning mixology team and demonstrates their collective skill with drinks and bites inspired by Cuba and the literary musings of U.S. ex-pat, Ernest Hemingway.

Follow both bars’ social channels @deadrabbitnyc and @blacktailnyc for daily updates, and us over at @downtownnyc for the neighborhood scoop.
