Get Low at Haru Sushi
Located at the intersection of Wall, Beaver and Pearl Streets in the triangular-shaped Cocoa Exchange Building, Haru Sushi has as much of a Downtown feel as it gets. The two-floor Shinto-inspired space, however, offers up an authentic sushi and Asian-fusion menu, along with delicious cocktails served up at a gorgeous cocktail bar.

Regardless if you go for a drink or for a Get Low dinner, stay for dessert. Haru is known for  cheesecake tempura and their dumplings stuffed with ice cream.

How To Make a Day of Get Low

Do your best Ferris Bueller impersonation this Tuesday and play hooky to have some midday fun before getting 20% off at Haru. Everyone deserves a little personal time to explore their own neighborhood every once in a while!

Walk the Brooklyn Bridge
Work up an appetite with a round-trip over what was once called the Great East River Bridge. At 135 years old, the iconic Brooklyn Bridge offers a panoramic view of the skylines that hug both sides of the river. Where the walkway expands at the bridge’s two towers is the spot for getting that perfect Instagram shot of Manhattan’s skyscrapers. Or keep the phone in your pocket. Take in the ferries, tugboats, barges and tour boats gliding beneath you. Close your eyes to hear the sounds of the city and feel the harbor wind across your face.

Walkway begins at Park Row & City Hall Park

Get Away From It All on Governors Island
A short ferry ride from Manhattan, a trip to Governors Island can feel a world away from city life. Hop the ferry at the Battery Maritime Building to explore New York City’s playground: from a zipline adventure to mini-golf, a farm visit, a rest in the Hammock Grove or a walk through Castle Williams, a Revolutionary War-era installation built to protect the city from attack. You can also grab a Citi Bike ( or bring your own) and explore the whole island before heading back in time for dinner.

Drink Professional Cocktails at an Amateur Underground Theatre
After dinner, head underground to the Beekman Hotel’s underground Alley Cat Amateur Theatre. The recently opened cocktail lounge harks to this area’s legacy as a theatre district in the 19th century. Today, it is a star-studded secret hotspot just a few blocks from Haru Sushi.
