Valentine’s Day In Lower Manhattan: Four Very Obvious Things You Can Do

Valentine’s Day is almost here, and though this year’s fancy date night out might need to turn into a fancy date night in, Lower Manhattan has plenty on-hand to keep your special night as romantic as possible. Here are four things you can do in Lower Manhattan to appease St. Valentine.

Dine Out…In

If you’re skipping the fancy meal out this year but still want to support your favorite romantic restaurant (and get a tasty dinner to boot), a few local spots are offering at-home meal kits and pickup feasts for Valentine’s Day. Crown Shy is offering a multicourse pickup meal for $195-per-package (serves two), with dishes including scallop crudo, roasted short rib and sticky toffee pudding; you can order through their website. Tom Colicchio’s Temple Court is still closed, but you can support the Craft Hospitality group by ordering a Valentine’s Day box from their Craft at Home series, with menu items including lobster salad, chateaubriand and raspberry cheesecake; you can order for delivery or pickup online. And Seamore’s is doing a steak-and-lobster mealkit dinner for two (see photo above), with three courses featuring shrimp cocktail, lobster orzo and filet mignon. The mealkit runs $200; you can add a bottle of bubbly for $5 or choose an a la carte bottle of wine from their house sommelier’s recommendations. Order on their website

Also, with the return of indoor dining, Seamore’s is offering the same meal in their dining room: $100 per person, plus a free bottle of bubbles. A table can be reserved through OpenTable. And Fraunces Tavern (54 Pearl Street) has a dinner for two spread at $130 that really does sound amazing. You can call 212-968-1776 for reservations.

Spare No Sweet For Your Sweetie

If you’re looking for a sugary treat for your special someone (no judgment if your special someone is just yourself), Lower Manhattan’s got a few shops to satisfy any sweet tooth. Stop by the Oculus and hit up Neuhaus Belgian Chocolate, where you can opt for one of their delectable chocolate assortment boxes, and Sugarfina, whose unique-flavored candies can be combined to your taste in a design-your-own bento box. If neither of these pique your fancy (or you just want a third box of chocolate — we continue to not judge) Eataly has a selection of Italian chocolates as well.

Bouquet It Up

Procure a rose or two (or a dozen) at City Blossoms, where you can get $15 off Valentine’s Day arrangements ordered before February 8. If you’d rather DIY your stems, you can opt for one of their “Date Night” kits, which come with an arrangement of red roses, as well as rose petals and votive candles.

Book A Staycation

Now is as good a time as any to book a (safe) staycation at one of Lower Manhattan’s many hotels. The Beekman is particularly romantic, but the Four Seasons Hotel New York DowntownMillennium Hilton, Marriott Downtown and Conrad are all open and ready for you to post up with your partner outside the increasingly claustrophobic confines of your own apartment.
