Wall Street’s Federal Hall is the site where George Washington was inaugurated in 1789, as well as where the first Congress met and the states ratified the Bill of Rights. Currently, the historic institution is hosting a series of timely and interesting panels — virtually, of course — for everyone to join.
The ongoing series “Debate Defends Democracy” is compiled of Zoom-based discussions on constitutional issues as they relate to our current moment. The next program, taking place on Tuesday, January 12, is “Presidential Power and Presidential Transition.” CNN’s John Avlon will moderate the following panel:
—Atlantic senior editor and George W. Bush speechwriter David Frum, author of “Trumpocracy: The Corruption of the American Republic” and advisor to Rudy Giuliani’s 2008 presidential campaign
—Franita Tolson, vice dean for academic and faculty affairs and professor of law at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
—Michael Waldman, president of the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law and former speechwriter and policy coordinator for President Clinton.
