It’s been a big year for liquor across the city, between pandemic-forced home bars, news-related stress drinking and skyrocketing post-election champagne sales. Liquor stores like Financial District Wine & Liquor (120 Nassau Street) have had to adapt to the changing landscape of the past few months, but with the holiday season, the shop is feeling optimistic.
“Things are going a little bit better,” staffer Lee Tachman told the Downtown Alliance. “People started to move back into the neighborhood. It was a little rough there for awhile. It was a ghost town.”
Since the start of the pandemic, the store, which opened in 2012, has been doing more delivery (read more about what that’s like here), plus adding partitions for safety and contactless pay at the store. And for all the holiday parties, Financial District Wine & Liquor has stocked up on its wines and whiskey selection. In fact, whiskeys have been a particular hit all pandemic.
“Our high-end whiskeys are selling like never before,” Tachman said.
They’ve also got an app for easy delivery all over the Financial District, and you get $10 off on your first order. You can also get 20% off all wines on the first Tuesday of the month.
