In April 2009, the U.S. Congress designated September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. In honor of that designation, each April, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum 5K Run/Walk and Community Day seeks to affirm the spirit of service reflected during the rescue and recovery period by bringing together Lower Manhattan residents and many others in this special way.
This year the 6th Annual 9/11 Memorial & Museum 5K Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, April 22, 2018; registration is now open.
The run/walk will begin at the North Cove Marina at Brookfield Place and take participants through scenic Battery Park along the waterfront before ending near the Memorial plaza.
Following the run/walk, Community Day is a family-friendly festival open to the public with food, entertainment and activities for all ages.
After the 5K, participates are invited to stay Downtown to take part in Bib n’ Brunch where over 45 restaurants all in Lower Manhattan provide exclusive discounts to bib holders and their guests. Participants can use their bibs for exciting discounts at Downtown retail locations.
