“Lucky” Lower Manhattan! David Chang’s second Lower Manhattan outpost of Fuku (meaning “lucky” in Japanese) recently opened at Brookfield Place. He opened his first LM location on Wall Street not long ago.
In case you haven’t heard, this television personality and Michelin star chef is head of the Momofuku Group empire and his new venture into casual chicken sandwich shops is taking over NYC. What he started with the opening a small shop in June of 2015 in the East Village has expanded to 7 different locations throughout the city, including 2 credit card only locations in LM. Aside from their signature fried chicken sandwiches, favorites such as slushies, beer, and in certain locations, whole fried chickens, are now being served.
Their Beef Tallow Jalapeno fries however, are exclusive to this particular location, and in my opinion, are the best around. They have a hint of spice but not too much and pair perfectly with ranch sauce, although you have the option of honey mustard and sweet jalapeno as well. For spicy lovers, I would recommend their Chicken Dip Sandwich! This sandwich is loaded with chicken, sliced cucumber, and kimchi slaw all on a potato bun, and comes with an extra spicy sauce on the side. Whether you’re feeling extra daring or just curious, this sandwich is sure to knock your socks off (in the good ways of course)!
And to top things off they offer desserts by another famous NY chef, Wyle Dufresne, who is offering DU’s donuts.
So if you’re looking to try something different on your lunch break or after a long day of shopping and sightseeing, head to Fuku for delicious fingers and biters. Or if you’re planning a get together to watch the big game, check out their Safety, Field Goal & Touchdown packages.
