Head Towards LM’s Tall Ships For A Free Music Fest

Leave the vinyl records at home. Take those headphones off. Find your favorite band graphic t-shirt and make your way to LM. Because you are going to want to close out summer with a little indie fun at the Seaport Music Festival from September 7th thru the 10th.

Since 2002, the festival has featured a plethora of indie music’s hottest bands from around the globe. The festival has long been an opportunity for music fans to see up-and-coming bands before they hit it big. The xx, Deerhunter, Joanna Newsom and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are amongst those who have played the festival.

Although each day’s schedule has has yet to be fully announced, the line-up is chock full of bands known for great live shows. The festival features Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, The Make-up, Martin Rev, James Chance and the Contortions, and more.

Headlining on Saturday night, Ted Leo is one of this era’s great rock songwriters. With his first solo record, The Hanged Man, due out this fall, the festival provides New York music lovers the chance to see Leo’s unique combination of punk, rock, guitar-pop, folk and dub reggae influence in person for free.

Festival-goers will also be able to pair all this music with locally sourced food from the Fulton Stall Market and oysters from Empire Oysters.
