Start those vocal warm-ups and flex those piano fingers because the 2016 Sing for Hope event is right around the corner!
The 5th annual Sing for Hope launches its 2-week run at 28 Liberty Plaza this Monday, June 6th. Come out and see 50 pianos placed outside for anyone and everyone to play and enjoy. Artists from near and far each adopted and beautifully designed one of the 50 pianos on display. Experience a series of performances from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. by special guests such as piano duo Anderson & Roe and cast members from On Site Opera’s Figaro Trilogy. International singing star and Tony Award® winning actress Lea Salonga will also be presented with the Sing for Hope “Art for All” Award for her dedication to inspiring young people with the gift of music throughout her career. Finishing off strong, a special performance of Bach’s Prelude in C will be performed by 50 different pianists using all 50 pianos.
After Monday, these pianos will be dispersed in public parks throughout the 5 boroughs to bring music all over the city. Following that, Sing for Hope has partnered with the New York City Department of Education to find each of these audibly artistic pieces a new home in public schools all around the city. Download the free App to explore all the piano locations, enter contests, and sign up to perform pop-up concerts.
Good fun for a good cause, now THAT’S music to my ears!
