As the neighborhood changes, we tend to appreciate restaurants with staying power—those local favorites that keep giving back year after year. There’s a certain comfort to sliding into the same worn booth that you sat in eight years ago, on a similar lazy Saturday, and ordering that menu special that you know so well.
Taste of Tribeca, downtown’s annual and acclaimed culinary festival, holds a similar and familiar place in our hearts. Now in its 22nd year, the festival has evolved from a modest affair to raise funds for local public elementary schools to a full-blown extravaganza of food, drink and fun for the whole family. P.S. 150 and P.S. 234 still benefit from the proceeds.
Even though the festival has grown, it continues to showcase many of our old standbys, as well as those new places that make the neighborhood food scene so vibrant. Downtown restaurants and pubs participating in this year’s festival include: Zucker’s Bagels & Smoked Fish, Woodrow’s, Lily O’Brien’s, Hank’s Juicy Beef, Gunbae, Palm, Rosa Mexicano, Warren77 and Little Park.
Taste of Tribeca takes place on Saturday, May 21, from 11:30 A.M.-3 P.M., on Duane Street between Hudson and Greenwich Streets. Come enjoy some incredible food presented by over 65 of Tribeca’s best restaurants, plus wine and beer tours of local shops and pubs, live entertainment and Kids’ and Sports zones. You can buy tickets now at tasteoftribeca.com or at the event.
