Next month, the Hudson River becomes a racetrack.
On May 7th and 8th, six teams hailing from New Zealand, Japan, France, and the UK face off against the defending home team champion, ORACLE TEAM USA. The international sailing race will take place off of Battery Park City and finish near the Brookfield Place Waterfront Plaza.
For the first time in nearly a century, this iconic event returns to New York Harbor. The wing-sailed catamarans fly above the water on foils at speeds up to 40 mph.
The Brookfield Place Waterfront Plaza is also hosting the Event Village, featuring entertainment and food vendors, as well as “Dock Out”– a Q&A session with the racers before they get down to business on the water.
The America’s Cup plans to give back to New York City by supporting local community programs that provide athletic and educational opportunities to area youth.
Don’t miss out on the excitement! No tickets are required for the race or the event village, and it’s all FREE. To check out the event schedule click here.
