Lower Manhattan recently welcomed an illustrious new Upper East Side transplant: the China Institute.
The prestigious organization, which was founded in 1926 and which serves as “a gateway to all things China,” is now located at the corner of Rector and Washington Streets. It occupies a 50,000-square-foot space that is five times larger than its previous home and that allows the institute to significantly expand its cultural, education and arts programs.
To celebrate the move, the China Institute is holding a special Fall Family Festival on Saturday, September 12th, from 10:30 A.M.- 3 P.M. The festival offers a unique opportunity for children and families to immerse themselves in Chinese culture. Attendees are encouraged to relax and enjoy a Kung Fu performance, arts and crafts, culinary activities (both cooking AND eating!), and much, much more.
Attendance is free, but the events are on a first-come, first-served basis. A full list of the activities can be found at the institute’s website.
