St. George Tavern: A Religious Experience

St. George's Tavern

Sam and Wolf Chang have given us a great reason to go to church more often. The former Syrian Catholic Church at 103 Washington Street, which was built in 1812, has been reinvented as St. George Tavern. This place is huge! It has two floors, two bars, two kitchens . . . even two menus. One menu features items inspired by spicy Shanghai cuisine. The other offers traditional American fare: burgers, steak and wings. With the original dark wood paneling and photos from Shanghai in the 1920’s, St. George’s definitely has a unique, old world theme.

You don’t have to pray too hard for a drink here. The restaurant has two full bars and a lounge with couches and chairs to hang out in. So make your way down to St. George’s Tavern. There are plenty of pews for you.
