Lower Manhattan is officially Owen for Business!
For those of you who enjoyed Mess Around Downtown and Joe on the Go, Owen for Business will continue to keep you updated on all retail openings and closings in the district. Just for some background, I’m the new Retail Coordinator, Michael Owen, and I joined the Alliance after completing my studies in historic preservation at The Pratt Institute. If you see any new retailers or any changes to existing retailers, please email me at email@example.com. Thanks!
Ryan Maguire’s Ale House – 28 Cliff Street, 212-566-6906
After being closed for a year following a terrible fire, Ryan Maguire’s recently reopened just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. The renovated space has a great new look but still has that inviting atmosphere locals have come to know so well. Spacious seating in the back makes families feel welcome, or you can find a spot at the handsome bar to watch the game. The beer selection features everything from regulars like Bud, Miller Lite, and Guinness to changing local and craft beers with colorful names that might test your pronunciation skills. Hint: The more syllables in the name, the higher the alcohol content. Ryan Maguire’s also offers a free buffet Monday to Friday, from 5-7 PM. As if that wasn’t enough, there are promotional events every Wednesday featuring new beers and wines.
Water Street Gourmet Deli & Pizza – 12 Water Street, 212-785-5220
From the owners who brought you Cafe Groppi on Water Street, Water Street Gourmet Deli & Pizza offers you the same variety and quality lunch choices for a quick bite during a busy day or have them cater your next office event.
Verizon Wireless – 30 Broad Street, 212-968-1200
The new Verizon Wireless store is conveniently located on Broad Street right by the New York Stock Exchange. But despite the bustling pedestrian traffic outside, the excellent customer service means there’s rarely a long line. Remember the waiting room scene at the end of Beetlejuice? Well you won’t find anything like that here–only fast and courteous service for all your phone needs.
Town – 88 Greenwich Street, 212-269-8888
Town, a residential real estate brokerage firm, takes customer service to new heights by providing services such as gym memberships and theater tickets, in addition to traditional real estate services. Town’s representatives pride themselves on knowing your new neighborhood as well as your bottom line.
Jos. A. Bank – 111 Broadway, 212-227-3684
Luxury and affordable are two words that are rarely found in the same sentence, yet they go hand-in-hand at the recently opened Jos. A. Bank. Myriad staff members are eager to help you choose just the right items from their classic luxury styles that won’t break the bank. Even their address has a certain elegant panache–The Trinity Building.
Strawberry, at 115 Fulton Street, has closed.
