Mess Around Downtown: January 18, 2010
Welcome back to Mess Around Downtown!
What do you get when you combine cigars, Vietnamese sandwiches, a craftsman, and a sweet new hotel room with a classy bar in the lobby? Sounds like one raucous night spent on the streets of Lower Manhattan to me. But really, it’s just the additions I’ve made this week to the Downtown Directory. If you see any new retailers or changes to existing retailers, please do not hesitate to email me at [email protected].

Baoguette – 9 Maiden Lane: 212-233-3400, www.baoguette.com
Arguably the best Bahn Mi in NYC. Definitely the hottest little food shop to hit Downtown this year. Judging from the line at lunch, people are digging it.
Cigar Landing – 25 Peck Slip: 212-766-1588
If you find yourself around the Seaport after dining at one of the many awesome restaurants on Front Street or you are just craving a nice smoke at lunch time, check out this new little shop for a fine hand rolled to ease your lungs’ desire. Open until 10pm.

An American Craftsman – 10 FultonStreet: 212-509-0591, www.anamericancraftsman.com
This newest additon to the South Street Seaport Mall serves as a gallery for over 500 American artists and craftspeople putting their work up for sale through An American Craftsman. Shop here for handcrafted glass work for your home, woodwork, and jewelry.

Andaz Wall Street – 75 Wall Street: 212-590-1234, www.andaz.com
Now taking reservations for it’s opening night on January 18th. If I didn’t live here and was visiting this week, I’d stay here. I would love to wake up in one of these big rooms surrounded by sophisticated and sleek design.

Bar Seven Five – 75 Wall Street: 212-590-1234
This is the Andaz’s bar that is already getting high marks from the blogosphere. It also opens to the public on the 18th of January, and from the pictures I’ve seen, I just want to be in this space sipping on a Perfect Pearl Manhattan made by one of their pro Mixologists.
