Catch LM’s Creative Canstruction Competition
By: Owa Kankhwende
Arts Brookfield will soon give 27 teams the opportunity to compete in building gravity-defying structures made of cans of food. Canstruction is an international charity competition for architects, engineers, contractors and students to build and design these structures. Brookfield Place is hosting this year’s Canstruction New York in association with City Harvest. Make sure to catch the mind-blowing structures that are now on display through November 15.
Last year’s competition welcomed over 40,000 visitors, allowing City Harvest to collect 64,000 lbs. of food and distribute enough cans to feed more than 26,000 hungry families in New York City for one day. It’s free for the public to attend, but visitors are encouraged to bring any non-perishable cans of food they can spare. Those cans and the amazing structures will be donated to City Harvest.
Make sure to come and take in great art and help with a good cause. Thousands of cans await at on the second floor of Brookfield Place. For more details, visit this link.
