The Downtown Alliance Mourns Loss Of Jack Rudin

The Downtown Alliance is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jack Rudin, the former Chairman of Rudin Management Company and one of the city’s most influential real estate builders and owners. A widely respected business leader, Mr. Rudin oversaw the design and construction of some of the city’s most notable buildings. He was also a dedicated philanthropist and trade union supporter who devoted himself to improving the lives of the less fortunate.

Mr. Rudin was born in the Bronx on June 28, 1924. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned the bronze star for heroic and meritorious service in combat. With his late brother Lewis, Mr. Rudin carried on the tradition of their parents, Samuel and May, in business and public service. Samuel Rudin founded Rudin Management Company in 1924. Jack Rudin’s nephew (and Lewis Rudin’s son), William Rudin, is the company’s CEO today. Rudin Management owns a number of buildings in Lower Manhattan and has been deeply involved in the civic life of the neighborhood and all of New York.

The Downtown Alliance is grateful for Jack Rudin’s decades of service, which have made New York a better place for all. The city has lost a devoted and visionary business and civic leader.
