Looking for a place to relax? Or play a game? Or take in the soaring grandeur of 1 World Trade Center?

Check out New York City’s newest public open space at the corner of Albany and Greenwich Streets, just one block from the National September 11 Memorial and Museum. Free and open seven days a week from 8 a.m. until dusk, the new plaza offers furniture and plantings as well as several games — shuffleboard, cornhole, mini golf and ping pong. Made possible through a one-year agreement between the Downtown Alliance and the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, the new space will give workers, residents and visitors alike a chance to rest in the midst of a busy and thriving area.

The plaza will also connect passers-by with local farmers. Every Tuesday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., a greenmarket, organized by GrowNYC, will provide fresh produce and yummy treats. Farm stands will include: Red Jacket Orchards, providing fresh fruit, and cold-pressed unfiltered juices and ciders from the Finger Lakes; Mi Ranchito Farm, a family-owned business from Hazlet, New Jersey, providing naturally grown fruits and vegetables; and Meredith’s Bread, offering hand-made locally sourced baked goods, including gluten-free, wheat-free, sugar-free and organic products.

The Downtown Alliance will staff an information kiosk in the plaza daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
