A Restaurant For The Neighborhood

07/30/2014

Fancy some sparkling bourbon? Or thyme-infused gin? Or maybe champagne and caviar?

A new neighborhood restaurant at 41 Murray Street, Washington Market Tavern welcomes visitors and regulars alike with a cozy atmosphere, artisanal cocktails, shareable plates and food that is “sophisticated yet familiar.” Executive Chef Aksel Theilkuhl, a protégé of Chef Laurent Tourondel, uses fresh, seasonal ingredients and plans to update the menu throughout the year.  “Nothing here has ever seen a freezer,” Theilkuhl told The Tribeca Citizen. “If it comes out of the ground on Monday, it’s on a plate on Tuesday.” The eclectic cocktail list features drinks from the Golden Age, along with modern concoctions and “classics with a twist.”
