Remembering 9/11

Twelve years since the Twin Towers fell on 9/11, we’ll pause again and remember the people and events of a day that has forever changed the Lower Manhattan landscape. Here are a few of the activities taking place today and tomorrow in our community:

An Evening of Peace, Hope and Remembrance

September 10, 6:30 p.m.

The Elevated Acre, 55 Water Street

Join Hope for the Warriors, wounded service members, veterans, first responders, 9/11 survivors and more for an evening of yoga at the Elevated Acre, blocks from 1 World Trade Center. Tickets are $30 and proceeds benefit Hope for the Warriors.

Tribute in Light

September 11, 8 p.m. at West and Morris streets

The Municipal Art Society organizes an art installation featuring beams of light, in honor of the Twin Towers, that shine through the night and fade at dusk on September 12.

Parallel Stories: The World Trade Center and Battery Park City

September 11, 7-8 p.m,

The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, 36 Battery Place

Join Clifford Chanin, of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, Carol Willis, of The Skyscraper Museum, and others in celebration of the renewal of Battery Park City and explore the neighborhood’s connection to the Trade Center site. The event is free, and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

A Concert of Remembrance, Healing, and Creating Peace

September 11, 7 p.m.

Tribeca Performing Arts Center

This concert features renowned jazz and Arab musicians in premieres of solo, duo, trio and ensemble works for peace.
