Picture Lower Manhattan: New York Stock Exchange Tree Lighting Ceremony

12/05/2012 in

Tuesday evening, people gathered once again for the 89th Annual New York Stock Exchange Tree Lighting Ceremony – with live performances, hot beverages and cookies!

The lighting has been a tradition since 1923. This year’s tree is a Norway Spruce hailing from Newburgh, N.Y. and stands 45 feet high and 35 feet wide.  The tree is adorned with 3,500 white LED lights, 1,000 multi-colored balls (with the NYSE Euronext logo printed on them) and a 6 foot star on top – all supported on an 8 foot by 10 foot base fashioned as a gold box.
